SIRIS APPS Trust ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of every learner, whānau member, volunteer and supporter who interacts with us. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We operate under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the twelve Information Privacy Principles.
1. Who is responsible
SIRIS APPS Trust is a registered New Zealand charitable trust. Our Privacy Officer can be contacted at privacy@sirisapps.org.nz.
2. Information we collect
- Contact details — name, email, phone, address, region.
- Enrolment details — programme, prior learning, accessibility needs, iwi or community affiliation (only if voluntarily provided).
- Donation details — amount, frequency, tax receipt information (payment card details are processed by Stripe and never stored by us).
- Volunteer & trustee information — CV, references, Police vetting outcomes where required.
- Website analytics — IP address, browser, pages viewed. We do not use behavioural advertising trackers.
3. How we use your information
- To deliver the courses, programmes and events you sign up for.
- To communicate with you about your enrolment, donation or volunteer role.
- To meet our reporting obligations to funders (TEC, MSD, Lottery, iwi) — reported in de-identified, aggregated form only.
- To improve our programmes based on outcomes and feedback.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share only what is necessary, only with vetted providers, and only under written agreements:
- Payment processor — Stripe (donations and event fees).
- Learning platform providers hosted within Australia or New Zealand.
- Government funders — de-identified aggregated outcomes only.
- Where required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of a learner or the public.
5. How long we keep it
Enrolment records are held for 7 years to meet funder audit requirements. Donation records are held for 7 years for tax purposes. Volunteer records are held for the duration of service plus 2 years. Analytics logs are anonymised after 12 months.
6. Your rights
You may ask us at any time to confirm what information we hold about you, correct it, or request its deletion (subject to legal retention requirements). Email privacy@sirisapps.org.nz. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep the site working and privacy-respecting analytics to understand which programmes get the most interest. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
8. Children
For learners under 16, we collect information from a parent or legal guardian and use it strictly for their enrolment and safety.
9. Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email to registered learners and posted on this page.
